The Mitchell M. Willoughby Community Scholarship Fund will award one scholarship(s) to deserving student(s) annually who are residents of the following counties in the midlands region of South Carolina. This year, one scholarship for $2,500 will be awarded. We accept applications from public high school students from Richland, Lexington, Fairfield, Kershaw, and Newberry Counties in South Carolina. The applicants must plan to attend an accredited two-year or four-year college or university within the United States. Preference will be given to those applicants who have been accepted to attend a college/university at the time of application.

Scholarship Eligibility

To be eligible to receive a scholarship, the applicant must satisfy all of the following criteria. The student must have been a resident of the state of South Carolina and reside in one of the following counties, Richland, Lexington, Fairfield, Kershaw, or Newberry Counties for a minimum of one year. The Scholarship Selection Committee may require proof of legal residency and will reject applicants who cannot provide such proof.

Consideration may be extended to applicants who have already been accepted to attend an institution of higher education. The applicant must have demonstrated aptitude or achievement and possess a minimum GPA of 3.0. Academic records and extracurricular and volunteer activities will be a factor in the evaluation of their request. The applicant should have demonstrated outstanding citizenship, such as having been active in community service or social justice-related activities.

Application Deadline

The deadline for all applications is Friday, May 3, 2024.

Applications will be accepted online via the CRC’s website at greatercolacrc.org and must be submitted no later than the deadline date. Deadlines are strictly enforced.
